SX-Controller now available in beta
We are pleased to announce the immediate availability of SX-Controller, our new software for remotely controlling the SONOSAX SX-AD8+ over a Dante network.
SX-Controller can monitor and control up to 10 SX-AD8+ units connected to the same network. From a centralised interface, users can view levels, access all settings for the eight channels of each unit, and lock the physical controls to prevent accidental changes during an installation or session.
This solution is particularly valuable when several SX-AD8+ units are installed in racks, technical rooms, or at different locations within a studio, concert hall or fixed installation. Every unit remains accessible from a single workstation, simplifying configuration, reducing the need to move between locations and providing a clear overview of the entire system.
SX-Controller can be downloaded free of charge for Windows and Linux. This initial release is a beta version and will continue to evolve based on feedback from our users.
A version compatible with Apple macOS is planned for October 2026.
SX-Controller requires firmware 1.8 or later and the Dante option installed in the SX-AD8+. Firmware version 1.8 can be installed on all SX-AD8+ units, whether or not they are equipped with the Dante option. The Dante option is required only to use SX-Controller.
When fitted with the Dante option, the SX-AD8+ can be powered directly via PoE through its network connector. In this case, a PoE-capable network switch must be used. The unit can also be powered from an external source connected to its 4-pin Hirose connector.
The Installation Guide and Troubleshooting Guide are available directly within SX-Controller by clicking the “?” button in the top-right corner of the interface.

Integration of the SONOSAX SX-AD8+ with Yamaha consoles
We are pleased to announce that the SONOSAX SX-AD8+ can be integrated via Dante with Yamaha DM3 (Dante-equipped version), DM7, CL1, CL3 and CL5 consoles, allowing users to benefit from the sound quality and dynamic range of SONOSAX preamplifiers.
The two guides below explain the required wiring and configuration step by step.

The SX-R4+ screen upgrade is now available
Announced in our March 2026 SONONEWS, the new touchscreen for the SONOSAX SX-R4+ is now available.
Significantly brighter than the original screen, it greatly improves readability, particularly outdoors and in direct sunlight.
Our upgrade offer includes:
- The new touchscreen and its corresponding control PCB
- A complete overhaul of your SX-R4+
- A complete firmware update
- A three-month warranty on the screen
This service is offered at a price of CHF 380.00, excluding shipping and taxes.

New production run of the SONOSAX SX-R4+
We are also pleased to confirm that a new production run of the SONOSAX SX-R4+ is under way. The first units are expected to become available between October and November 2026.
Every unit from this new production run will be fitted with the new brighter screen as standard. The available configurations and options remain the same, and the price of the SX-R4+ is unchanged.
The SX-R4+ remains at the heart of our professional recorder range. Its compact format, SONOSAX preamplifiers, expansion possibilities and robust construction continue to make it particularly well suited to the demands of professional sound recording.

Daniel Blumberg: SONOSAX at the heart of the creative process
British composer, musician and artist Daniel Blumberg is notably the composer of the score for The Brutalist, which earned him the Academy Award and BAFTA for Best Original Score. He is also a member of the international jury for the Venezia 83 competition at the 2026 Venice Film Festival. He recently told us how SONOSAX equipment has become part of his work, from mobile recordings in unusual locations to overdubbing, monitoring and mixing.
“SONOSAX has increasingly become so integral to my work. I used the SX-R4+ with the SX-AD8+ for recording The Testament of Ann Lee. It was particularly useful for the percussion sessions, which we did in the rental warehouse Bell Percussion. I was able to bring my portable recording setup to the heavy bell plates and church bells, which was much more flexible than shipping the instruments to a studio. The same was true of being able to record Rhodri Davies’ large harps at his house in Wales rather than organise complicated transport for him and his instruments.
Whilst I record a lot live to the SD cards, the Dante card has added a massive amount of flexibility with these sessions, particularly with overdubs. It allows me to use all the SONOSAX preamps direct to Pro Tools, with no latency, and more recently I’ve been able to pair it with the Merging/Neumann MT 48 for musicians’ headphone mixes.
I used the SX-R4+ for recording Gianfranco Rosi’s Sotto le Nuvole. I reamped saxophones underwater in Baia and used the four channels for two hydrophones and two geophones on a pier at 2 a.m., when the tourists had gone to sleep.
The newer additions to my setup were integral to these projects too. I used the SX-M2D2 as a headphone DAC for consistent referencing as I was travelling on trains and in the sound mix for both films.
I also replaced my Genelecs with the SONOSAX ADN-2A speakers for mixing. I was really, really happy with how these translated to the soundstage from my studio. I love how flat and accurate they perform, but the additional bass extension options also make them really enjoyable for listening to music at home. For the amp I use the line out from my SX-M2D2. They’re easily the best-looking speakers I’ve ever seen, so I was relieved they also sound so good!!!”

SCHOEPS CMD 42 and SONOSAX SX-M2D2
The VDT, the German association of audio professionals, recently published an article about pairing the SCHOEPS CMD 42 digital microphone with the SONOSAX SX-M2D2. It presents a compact signal chain in which the signal is digitised directly at the capsule and then sent to the AES42 input of the SX-M2D2.
The article explores the possibilities offered by this combination for mobile recording, sound design and demanding production environments. It also highlights the flexibility of the SX-M2D2 in terms of power, routing, outputs and monitoring, as well as the network integration of the SX-AD8+ through Dante and PoE.
